Margaret (Max) McLaughlin started at TRG in January 2017 as an OD/TC working primarily on the USAID Education Performance, Improvement, Communications and Knowledge (EPIC) project. With EPIC, she serves as the Professional Development Portfolio Manager assisting USAID’s E3/ED office support the capacity building of 450 Education Officers overseas. Max has been fortunate to work in international development for over 35 years as an education advisor, formal and non-formal trainer, program director, and leadership coach. Starting as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal and Jamaica, Max’s career evolved with a focus on teacher training and project design, development, management and evaluation in countries in crisis. She served as a Chief of Programming and Training for Peace Corps, an Education Officer in USAID’s Africa Bureau, Deputy Director of Education at Save The Children USA and Division Director in the Leadership Management School of the Department of State. Max has a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) from the Center for International Education at the University of Massachusetts and a Masters of Arts in Teaching (MA) from the U.S. Department of Education’s National Teacher Corps Program at the State University of New York in Albany. She has worked in the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe and volunteers with her wonderful husband, Stephen, on community-based projects in Haiti and Israel and Palestine.
