Supporting International Development

A significant portion of TRG's work is in support of international development. We have worked in over one hundred countries providing services in English, French, Spanish, and Russian. Our international development clients include the U.S. Agency for International Development, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program, the Asian Development Bank, the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), the Ford Foundation, PATH, PLAN International, Pact, and numerous other bilateral and multilateral agencies, and non-governmental organizations.

TRG's international development work falls in two general categories. First, we are development practitioners. Working under contract to donor agencies and NGOs, we design and implement training and performance improvement programs, provide institutional strengthening services, facilitate stakeholder involvement, and provide training and human resources development expertise in support of projects and activities in numerous sectors including health, population, environment, agriculture, education, water supply and sanitation, democracy and governance, finance, privatization, and municipal development.

In addition to our work as practitioners, TRG also provides training, teambuilding, and organizational development services directly for the staff, contractors, and partners of international development organizations. In this work, we provide training on leadership, teamwork, communications, management, and supervisory skills; we design and implement strategic planning and teambuilding retreats; we facilitate the partnership between and within contractor groups and grantees; and we design and facilitate workshops and conferences. We bring an informed perspective to this work, based on an understanding of the development context and the unique challenges these organizations face. We understand the field/home office dynamics of large-scale development organizations. Importantly, we share the basic commitment of these organizations -- to promote development in a way that makes the world a healthier, safer, and more peaceful place.
