Barbra Bearden started as a consultant for TRG in March of 2018 and was invited to join the company full-time as a Communications Specialist in December that year. Barbra supports TRG’s USAID contracts with strategic planning, project management, constituent outreach, knowledge management, training, facilitation and event planning. Barbra has 13 years’ experience in these areas working with multi-stakeholder alliances, USAID Offices and Missions, foreign governments, the private sector and non-governmental organizations in seven countries. As a consultant, Barbra supported the Mobiles for Education Alliance for three years managing communications among the steering committee, sponsors, partners and staff; planning the annual Symposium, and disseminating post-event knowledge products. She also led training in strategic communications for four Rwandan government offices and partners as part of a USAID-funded capacity development project. She has extensive regional experience in Western Asia. Barbra worked alongside locally registered youth empowering organizations in Palestine and Yemen, managing workforce development projects for private foundations and the US Department of State. She also managed a training program for community-based organizations in Iraq as part of a UNDP-supported project. She has an MA from American University’s International Communication program in the School of International Service and a BA in Communication from Centenary College of Louisiana. She is certified in both PMD Pro and Human Centered Design. Barbra is from Washington, DC where she has spent most of the past 15 years; but both Massachusetts (where she grew up) and Louisiana (where her family is from) feel like home too. When not at work or traveling you can find Barbra in her garden, riding her bicycle or on her yoga mat.
