Organizational Development/Training Consultant
Dorothea (Dee) Hertzberg started at TRG in May of 2019. She is an Organizational Development, Training and Institutional Capacity-building Specialist with over 20 years of experience working in international development in Africa and Latin America. Her specific areas of expertise include conducting organizational assessments, engaging stakeholders with a participatory and appreciative inquiry approach, team building and facilitation, designing and implementing capacity-building interventions, and providing interactive and participant-centered learning events. Currerntly, Ms. Hertzberg serves as the Institutional Capacity Building Specialist on the USAID/DRC Integrated Health Project, as well as the Task Order Manager on the USAID Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) Training, Facilitation, and Digital Services Project (TFDS). Her other clients include the USAID CEL Project, World Bank Group, and American Chemical Society. Before joining TRG, she served as Peace Corps Africa Region’s Senior Advisor for Programming, Training and Evaluation and their Chief of Operations. Prior to these roles, Ms. Hertzberg lived overseas for 16 years, where she focused on building the organizational capacity of several Peace Corps programs in her roles as Country Director in Madagascar, Director of Programming and Training in Paraguay, and Associate Director for the Health and HIV/AIDS program in Ethiopia. From 2003 until 2008, she carried out short-term consultancies overseas with a focus on training design, HIV/AIDS prevention, and building institutional capacity to improve health service delivery. Ms. Hertzberg has consulted for several international organizations including: The Carter Center, Intrahealth International, United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), John Hopkins University ‐ Center for Communications Programs and Jhpiego; and has supported work in 25 African countries. She has a Master’s degree in Sustainable International Development and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Thought and Political Economy; and is fluent in French and Spanish. When not on the job, you can find her taking yoga classes, playing in her garden, traveling, or spending quality time with friends.
